Kerala Life Challenge

Kotarakara Life Challenge (KTLC) was founded in March 2009, by John Kurikesu. The center offers a one year men’s residential program for the Malayalam speaking people and is located in Kottarakara, Kollam District in Kerala. In 2008, Mr. Kurikesu heard about the mission of Life Challenge and its successful recovery centers. He then expressed an interest to take the program to his home-state of Kerala, which has one of the highest alcoholism rates in India.

After months of planning, a Development Committee was formed with Bijoy Abraham as its founding Chairman. A men’s residential center was then opened in Kottarakara in 2009. The center has been involved in the community conducting awareness programs in the society. Interactions with the local media has also helped in spreading awareness about addiction issues.

The 10 bed center serves both as a residential center and an outreach facility. Outreach awareness programs have been held in some other cities of Kerala – Thiruvanthapuram, Kollam & Kochi and visits have been made to Kottarakara Jail.
