LifeChallenge International Alcohol and Drug Certification Board (IADCCB)
Mission statement:
Our Mission is to develop qualified, ethical, professional counselors to provide alcohol and drug treatment to those in need of recovery services.
Welcome to the Life Challenge International Alcohol and Drug Counselor Certification Board web site. The certification requirements of the IADCA/I/II are based on the Tap 21 requirements established by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (NAADAC), the Association of Alcohol and Drug Educators, (CAADE) and the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) who sets the international standards of practice in addiction counseling, prevention and clinical supervision through testing and credentialing of addiction professionals.
The International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium is a not-for-profit voluntary membership organization comprised of certifying agencies involved in credentialing or licensing alcohol and other drug abuse counselors, clinical supervisors, prevention specialists, co-occurring disorders professionals and criminal justice professionals. IC&RC includes 73 organizations representing more than 37,000 certified professionals internationally.
The larger IADCA/I/II vision includes opening an Association Training Institution in Bangalore, India, to provide training to counselors from India and Africa. It is our desire to make available the latest evidence-based treatment approaches, with an international focus, to all counseling professionals who wish to provide services to addicts. We believe that addiction treatment is a specialty skill set, and are committed to training to the highest level possible the necessary skills to be effective. In addition, we are committed to providing the training curriculum to certify counselors internationally through Distance Learning. Once a counselor is an IADCA/I/II, he/she will be qualified to take our curriculum and deliver the training on site. Counselors from those regions will take and submit the examinations to The Life Challenge International Alcohol and Drug Counselors Certification Board, and the Certificates will be awarded through the IADCCB.
We are passionate about the training and education of alcohol and drug counselors, believing addiction to be a specialized area of expertise in the counseling field. The IADCCB believes true competence in the addiction field requires a comprehensive knowledge base and level of supervised experience to build the strongest foundation for effective treatment.
